Sent you a text at 5:00 a.m., but imagine you were unloading some luggage at the airport at that time. Praying for you all, have a great time and use all that Spanish to make a difference in the lives of the people there. Love you, and shadow missed sleeping with you this morning too. Mom and Dad

  5. Judy Holsem says:

    Julie,
I was inspired by your conviciton to go on this trip. It takes great courage to step “out of the box” and make yourself vulnerable to the faith challenges from God. It is comforting to know that there is a medical mom out there with our kids; but I will pray that nobody needs medical care! I will pray for protection, for health and for wisdom….for sleep for energy and for Peace.

the trip here was very fast we didnt have any lay overs it was a very fun ride when we got in the car it only took a hour. the first day we took everying out of the cars and unpacked and sorted things out. yesturday we went to were we were working about 15 min away. the people that we were building houses for really need it.we are all building houses really close to each other. we got the houses up really fast and groups helped each other that got things done. it has been lots of fun here playing with the kids and with the familys and speaking to them. today we went back to the houses and put stuco on the 4 houses and made a oawning on the houses. the food here is so good its like being back home eating beans and rice at lunch and american food at night. thanks for writing on here i will try to get on moe and talk on here

  31. Leah says:

    Hey Dix,
Just checkin up on you again. We’re not at the cottage and I cant figure out how to look at pictures, I dont know why . . . they wont come up on my computer . . . it must be the beautiful blue phone that is making me so technologically behind. When people talk about downloading apps on their phones, it makes me uncomforatable because I have no idea what that is and what I would ever do with an app =) Anyway, Im so glad you get to get away from all that for at least a week and focus on what really matters! I hope you had a great day. We continue to pray for you and look forward to playing perro, perro, gato when you get home. We will miss our daily dose of turtles at the cottage tomorrow. We tried to catch one once without you, and it was an embarrassment. Have an amazing time at the medical clinics – that was my favorite! love you mucho! Leah

  32. Erin Pettijohn says:

    Hey Dix!

We might call Molly and have her come up though, cuz we kinda miss her more.
So glad that you’re having fun and doing amazing work for God. Can’t wait to hear more!!

You have been so blessed and God has been so good to you and now you are able to bless others by giving of youself too! My Mom was so excited to see you and couldn’t believe how much you have changed from that little guy that used to come in the hospital so often. Praying that you will continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

  40. Jodi Berens says:

    Hi Dixon,
It sounds and looks like you are having an amazing time. I can only imagine how much fun you are having with the kids and they with you! Hope you are staying healthy and love to see the photos, everyone looks great! Are you keeping Kev in line? I’m sure he’s loving the food!! Take care and we are keeping you as well as everyone else in our prayers. Looking at the stars at night (at the cottage) makes me think of how amazing they must be by you! Have a great time with all the kids!
    Mrs. Berens

  41. Judy Holsem says:

    Dixon,
I had you on my “specifics” prayer list for today. I know this will be challenging bus ride and an uncertain chain of events in the village. I am praying that God will use your special and unique gifts today in that village-wherever it is! It is exciting to read everyone’s updates and the photos are heart-warming. Keep that group of girls in line….. Blessing to you and the other team members for safety, health and evangelism power! Mrs. H

  42. Rog Vanderheide says:

    DIX,
Went through the pictures and it looks to me you are working harder than Graham. Keep it up and give him a kick in the butt to get going. No slackers allowed right? If the kids are impressed with Grahams’s “Grand Musculos” they must be scared of yours! :-) They probably never saw a shotputter/discus thrower before in their life.
Hope things continue to go well and will continue to keep in our our prayers

  43. Bob and Carole Pettijohn says:

Hey Bubba—hope all is well….Thinking about you guys constantly and hope that everyone stays well enough to go to the village today. The only time I felt bad was when I ate a hambuger at Burger King the last day there!! We can’t wait till you guys are home and hear your stories first hand. Love ya, Mom and Dad

  44. Barb Opperwall says:

Prayers for you to remain healthy and strong as you finish your work! Barb

  45. Lynette Dooley` says:

    Dixon:
Hope your foot is strong (the one that was injured earlier in your sporting career) and that you have been able to accomplish all the necessary heavy lifting…B.J. was so good at that when he was in Guatemala. Kind of a nice tradition to carry on! I remember your first service project when you were in 78′ers–when you first learned the joys of serving others. You were great at carrying the heavy cemet loads down to the river at Mrs. Witte’s house! You were also good at finding crawly things…. Know we are praying for you and the team as you show God’s love to those who have never heard the good news of His love and salvation! We pray that you will see His mighty power in both big and small ways tonight–from the clinic, to the Jesus film, to new believers, to the trip home. We celebrate with you that God has chosen YOU to be part of this incredible opportunity to be His hands and feet!
    The Dooleys
    Romans 10:15
“And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

  46. Carole Pettijohn says:

Dix, Here we sit missing you and hanging on to all the notes that are coming from the computer. We just love the stories, and are hoping that you are not sick, and that the van rides are going well. We are especially praying that the van is able to get out of the village tonight, after BJ and Jilli’s experience, I am sure you are ready to help carry it out ! So, be strong and of good cheer….we love you and will continue to pray. Dad hopes that your father’s day gift will include another lawn mowing next week like the one last week. Love, mom and the best dad in the world !

  47. Brenda Goodyke says:

    Hi Dix,
I bet you are really missing Caroles cooking about now aren’t you? Or do you really prefer the rice and beans? Anyhow just wanted to let you know we cont. to pray for you and hope the ride home tonight goes well. Have an great next couple of days taking in all God has for you and giving out all you can. What an amazing experience and huge blessing for you. Miss ya.
    Mrs. G.

See you soon, love, mom and dad

  55. Brenda DeVries says:
