Im prayin for ya, hope you have another great trip down there. Although nothing can beat scaring the crap out of Jbird with our razors!
Also, i told adam to watch out, because you think you know what your doing when it comes to building houses…. but i think the whole plum and square things is overrated
Jurgy: How was your flight? Short night? Make sure to take out a permit for the new house you’re going to build and don’t forget to draft stop all the electrical holes! Thinking and praying for you, Candyman.
Al,
Olivia was looking so forward to sharing this trip with you. You have made an important impact on her life. I think she kind of sees you like a “big kid” (just like her dad). Don’t let her get away with too much, she doesn’t have a very good “off button” when she gets wound up! Praying for you, the team and the people of Guatemala!
Connie Stegeman
it is delightful that you are going back down there Al!
i am sad i am not with you, but still excited for you to be there.
enjoy your time and DO WORK!
Senor Al –
I should probably be there as your Executive Assistant!
Appears that you’re taking a lot of flack on the other blogs for your “plumb lines & square angles”. Surprisingly, no one has mentioned your typing or internet skills yet
Praying for you & the team this week – thank you for loving & serving.
Lifting you up in prayer constantly,
Karen
This is it. This is the moment that you waited for. Enjoy the sweetness of it. Lifting you up right now. Glad the trip went well.
Lar
Al, I know you love these trips, but we so appreciate your taking the time to mentor and love our kids and to show them what a heart of service looks like. Art
Thanks for your willingness to share your gifts and leadership with this group on this adventure. Keep an eye on Katelyn for me and harass her often for me as well…she needs that. Blessings to you in your week and your work!
Dear Al,

Love ya!
Lara
hey my brother!
just sending you prayers from the booth.
ALBY!!! I miss you! I’m sure your house is not plum and I am also sure that you are getting frustrated that everyone is giving you crap and not believing your excuses! Well Al…I do! I mean I’m sure the pad isn’t level, and those studs are probably a little bent, and with the rain, and the way the earth is spinning and the position of the sun and….I believe them all Al! haha. I hope it is going great and I am glad to hear that the team is bonding so well! Enjoy this time woody, Love ya big guy!!!
Jason
P.S. when you post something make sure to write at the bottom how many times it was deleted “for no reason” before it posted!!! Just giving you a hard time! Praying for you lots!!! I hope you get to see Aldena!!!
Jason
Hi Al
Wanted to say Hi to you and let you know once again that you are in our prayers everyday and many times throughout the day. Thankful that you are there especially during the rain and all so that you know what to do with all that while trying to construct a home. Praying that God will make this a very special trip for you, as you are there sharing this very special time with Chad.
Blessing to you Al, Bill and Lisa
Here we go with 2 finger typing. Great start to our small group. Our group of Sarah B, Laren VD, Kev B, Kristena DV , Josh VW, and I. We have bonded well and looking foward to what God has in store for us this week. Hoping to see many lives changed with this group. Lots of opportunities for us both here and when we return. Thanks for your prayers and posts to me this week they mean alot.
Senor Al –
Excellent 2 finger typing
Praying that the rain will hold off tomorrow and your team will accomplish plenty.
Also praying that you’ll be blessed abundantly this week by saying “yes Lord” & returning to Guate.
Karen
Hola Al:
Just checked out the pics. Makes me wish I had gone after all. Sounds like everything is going well. Glad to hear you made it through customs. Said a prayer at that time & at 3:00a.m until about 6:ooa.m. until I finally fell asleep. Take care of Chad for me and give him a big hug & kiss from me. I know your enjoying the time down there because you always do. Tell Dan & Heidi hi and ask Escuardo if he remembers eliminating my little friend I had visit me when I was there. The gray furry one. Keeping you & Chad in my prayers. I know you will be used by God this week to touch the lives of the villagers. Miss you. Love you.
Woody!
Praying you are moved in different ways than you have been on past trips to Guatemala! I want to be right by you, laughing at all your jokes and stories! Make sure you use the Gold Blond! (The million little angels/ brain freeze) Also, “i got one”
Love,
Spener
I hope you packed your gold bond along so you can be “sitting on ice cubes”. I’m praying for you Woody.
Love,
Ross
Hola everyone. Things are going muy bien. Just got done eating pizza after a great day of building. Boy its been awhile since ive done this trip. Its so exciting watching yours and my kid serving GOD here in Guatemala. Pray for tomorrow as we dedicate the homes and bring the gospel to the Guatemala people. May we all see how special this time can be in our own lives as this can give us such a passion to serve God in a way we never thought we could. So very true in my own life. Very hard to keep a dry eye here watching God work in us and thru us. Miss u Sheri and wish u were serving along side of me. Thanks for the posts and prayers. Awesome to hear from my past goldbond Guat team members. Those trips were the best. Until tomorrow. AL
Pizza! That’s always a treat! Glad to see that the stucco got on the houses and no problems with rain today. Praying for you guys and the entire team! Hope that tomorrow is a great day!
Al, Olivia’s trip to visit the child you sponsor was definately a highlight today. So thankful that you and the other leaders are willing to invest in her life. Wish I could experience the dedicatation service tomorrow. I imagine it is very moving. Thankful for this website that allows us to feel connected to you all. The fruits of your labor will not be forgotten by the people of Guatemala or the team you help lead. Praying for health, safety and continued God sightings for all of you. Connie
Alan,
By viewing the photos, it appears you are keeping very busy with the team. Is your home plum and square or… I am sure it’s perfect. It appears the weather cooperated for stucco day. Prayers were answered. May the Lord continue to bless you as you serve our brothers and sisters in Guatemala.
Randy D.
Hi Al
It is great to look at the pictures and see the joy of you and the team as you serve the Lord in such a willing and loving way. I know this week is going way to fast and you are working hard and loving every minute. I have to say though, unlike Sheri, I do not miss our furry friend and am glad to know that it is no longer with us. I am not sure he would like the new head quarters anyways. Prayers are with you as you dedicate the homes tomorrow…
Hey J,
It is great to read your posts and know that everything is going well. I love how people keep bringing up the gold bond stories. Still has to be one of the best lines of the trip and I quote, “Man, this feels like I have my own personal fan”. Anyways, wish I could be your roof buddy tomorrow and help you finish off all the houses. Praying for you and all the other team members for a great and memorable dedication day. You are the man J!
-Kevin
Al
All I can say is you lucky (blessed) dog, you!
Lar
Alby! I miss you man!!! I have used Gold Bond almost everyday since that trip! It is like my own personal fan! And the green bottle, your face when you felt that tingle was priceless! I miss ya woody! When do you get to see Aldena? I know you cannot go down there without seeing her! I am so happy that you get to have this experience again!!! Love ya woody!
Jason
Just a note this morning about my special small group. With tears in my eyes i have never had a group share so much with tears running down there cheeks how they desire to have that relationship with Jesus Christ. We so often screw up and deserve NOTHING, but GOD loves us in spite of our many inperfections. These kids and Adults lives have allready been so impacted this week. That my friends is WHY i love going to Guatemala. Have a blessed day. ALAN
Amen!
Hello Al – hope all is well with you and the entire team. It is nice to see the photos of how the houses are coming along and all the teamwork involved. We pray your day today will be filled with love and blessings as you dedicate the houses to the families who will receive them and their hearts will be open to the gifts they are receiving.
Hi Al!
Thanks for the note about your group. We didn’t realize that Kevin was in your group and couldn’t be more pleased – hope you’re giving some good tips on building!!! So glad to hear about their desire to have greater relationships with God! What an awesome experience! We are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers constantly and today as we were driving through pouring rains, 80 mph winds and lightning and flooding all around us, we kept thinking about you trying to build your homes dealing with inclement weather. Something we would normally complain about, instead reminded us of how we still take for granted, and are blessed with our everyday conveniences! Keep up the great work and we will continue praying for you!
Scott & Jodi Berens
Hi Al
I just had to write a note to you and let you know how happy we are that Lauren is in your group. I know that God is doing amazing and awesome things through you and am just so happy that Lauren can spend alot of time with you this week. Praying for you often throughout the day.
Blessings, Bill and Lisa
Bunkie,
Just lifting you guys up in prayer right now. I pray that tonight you will catch up on some much needed rest for the long night of ministry you have in front of you tomorrow. How evident is GOD in your time there. Man he is everywhere.
Keeping you in my prayes
nate
p.s. i saw your house and it had a lot of those red marks dan likes to put on! whats up with that???
Yesterday was an awesome day. We dedicated 6 homes, yes 6 even though we built 5. A woman in the village gave the land for all the homes built even though her home was old. She could have given someone her home with a dirt floor and no window or door, and then she could have had a new home for herself, but she didnt. Do you think we could do that? The cool thing bout this is God blessed her from this. Her little boy had just come back from the doctor and needed surgery on his tear ducts, and then the cool thing was Chad was given some money from a family friend to use to help someone in Guatemala, as he prayed bout what to do with this money God showed him this boy so he paid for the surgery. Sheri i thought u would like that story as u to have given to help and even save the life of one of Gods children here. Last nite devotion was cool as the kids shared alittle about God in there life. One girl in particule with tears running down her face saying she didnt have that relationship we all yearn for. Her parents would b very proud of her. That takes alot of guts to do that in front 33 people. Pray 4 us today as we prepare to bring the gospel to the Guatemalen people and in return WE are the ones who seem to be blessed. Have a blessed day. Al
Hi AL
What an awesome testimony to Gods power. We are so honored to hear the impact not only of the familues in Guatemala, but the powerful work of God in the hearts of the youth there and adults as well. I often thing of the verse that tells of coming away and resting a while…that is when we hear Gods voice. In Guatemala you are not resting for sure….but you are going away to a special place…and you are hearing Gods voice. May God continue to bless and enrich you all.
Hey Al…Guess What?!?! =)
Al
Thanks for your leadership in the small groups and we look forward to hearing the stories of God’s work in the people there and in the lives of the team.
Scott
Teach Kev some tricks of the trade in building
Al:
You are an awesome leader.! Your open and broken heart (and tears) make it safe for the kids in your group to examine their own hearts and be honest before God, one another, and themselves about where they stand spiritually. It sounds like all the walls they have put up to “protect” themselves have come crumbling down. Their eyes are unveiled and can now see the love God has for them–who they really are and who HE really is. Praying that you will continue to be healthy and be the fearless leader God has made you to be! I’m sure God has many more amazing surprises to reveal to you all. How good it is that your team, as well as those in Guatemala, are watching and waiting with expectation to receive them!
The Dooleys
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face shine upon us, that Your ways may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations.
Psalm 67:1-2
Al, Thanks for being down there with the kids and sharing these important experiences with them. Makes me wish I was there. Will pray that you all continue to have a safe trip and are able to bring the love of Christ to the people there. Remind the group they are the hands and feet of Christ because he can not “physically” be there.
Thanks again!
Just eating breakfast on this Sunday morning as u r worshiping in church. Great nite in the village last nite. Chad,Lauren,Riley, and Morgan gave theyre testimony last nite. What an awesome Fathers day present to see your child share what God is doing in there life. How blessed am i. Pray for the team as we drive 3 hours tonite to bring the gospel to yet another village. 20 lives given to Christ last nite not including those that the seeds were planted. I wish you all back home could experiance this trip in some way, it truely is for me refreshing to have this week away from the busyness of the world and to concentrate on what is really important in our life. Have a blessed Sunday. Luv ya Sheri ,Blake, and Logan. AL
Bunkie,
I am so jealous right now. but so happy that you are there serving. Just lifting you up in prayer. and praying that you aren’t kicking too much butt on the basketball court or what ever game your playing. it’s nice to let the guatemalan kids win too! anyways, you are an awesome leader. Christ shines brightly through you. I know all the kids see it, thanks for being my prayer buddy. Kev gave me the best one to pray for. Keep up the good work.

Hola everyone. Very late nite last nite. Got home at 220am. Vans had to have the chains put on the tires and everyone had to fill the mud trenches with rocks. That was a hour and half ordeal, but God got us out for a long ride home. PRAY for our last nite group devos with touch our hearts and that those who feel God touching there heart will give it all to HIM. Thanks for your prayers and support this week. God Bless. Alan
Cool Al! Sounds like u have been having a blessed week!

al
Have to make this quick but sounds like an awesome trip. Wish I had gone. It put tears in my eyes that the money Chad was given went to help that boy with his surgery. How cool is that! Sounds like this group was impacted. Look forward to hearing about everything. Dropping truck off tomorrow. I’lll be praying for a safe return. See you then! Love You!
Just a quick note before i have to get some sleep for a long day of travel 2morrow. If u parents could only c your kids at our last devotion nite on there knees at the cross nailing there sins on the cross and thru many tears sharing the struggles in there life and committing themselves to GOD. A week of so many prayers offered and so many answered. May we all continue to use this week to grow and focus on God when we return back to the busy life at home and start a habit of following Gods calling in our lives, not our own. God bless and Thank you 4 your prayers. Pray 4 safe travels home and 4 Kev and i driving home so early in the morning.
Al,
I’m praising God for all the wonderful stories about lives changed, renewed and turning to Him! thanks for posting some of those stories this week. it was great to walk the journey alongside of the team that way. Will be praying for you all today–for a safe and uneventful trip home!
